About Us

Laura developed Gym America – Gymnastics & Dance Center to be the place that every child asks to go to because they WANT to learn and they LOVE to LEARN. This center offers a menagerie of classes and activities that every child will enjoy. Whether your daughter/son has dreams of being a ballerina in the Nutcracker, a gymnast in the Olympics, a cheerleader, or a hip-hop expert, we have the class for them! We are very excited to announce that we will be moving to a bigger location in the fall of 2019 or early winter. We will keep everyone posted on the exact timing of our move. Our new and improved facility will be within a few minutes of our current location. More details coming soon! Here are some things you can look forward to at our new facility:

A dedicated ninja area with new obstacles and equipment for children and families
An above ground Air Pit
Public wifi for parents
An expanded and dedicated dance room with hardwood sprung floor

What we offer: preschool, recreational and competitive gymnastics instruction, introduction to cheerleading, ninja fit classes, camps (gymnastics/dance/cheer/"American Ninja Warrior" themed camp), dance classes (ballet, tap, and hip-hop), birthday parties (gymnastics, cheer, creative movement, hip-hop, "American Ninja Warrior" themed etc.), open gym, and specialized classes for student’s with various levels of learning difficulties.

Our classes are divided into levels based on ability. To ensure that you sign up for the proper class, we recommend an evaluation if you are new to our program. Each of our classes includes stretching and strength in addition to instruction on vault, uneven bars, beam, floor and trampoline. Our classes our co-ed through the white level and will also include instruction on rings, pommel horse and parallel bars. We focus on learning technically-sound gymnastics skills in a safe and fun environment. In addition to learning gymnastics, we focus on building self-esteem, goal setting, trying new things, overcoming fears and working hard.

Gym America – Gymnastics & Dance Center was created by the founder, Laura Carr and in order to maximize the potential of every child who walks through our doors. In an effort to provide children with the most stimulating and innovative learning environment possible, Laura developed a center that recognizes all children for their uniqueness and strengths and strives in every way possible to provide them what they personally need to reach their maximum potential. In this endeavor, Laura has created an environment in which learning is maximized through various movement activities ensuring that all children receive a variety of sensory input throughout their day. We focus on learning fundamental skills in a fun and positive environment.

Here's a little more information about Founder/Program Director:

Laura Carr, M.S., B.C.B.A., L.B.A. is the Founder/Director of, Gym America – Gymnastics, Dance,

and Aerial Arts, LLC . Laura has a Master’s Degree in Clinical Behavioral Psychology and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and a Licensed Behavior Analyst through Virginia’s Board of Medicine. Laura has also held previous licensure as a Limited License Psychologist in the state of Michigan. Laura has a passion for working with children and has over 25 years of experience teaching and working with children in various capacities, including providing direct Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services, coaching gymnastics, dance, creative movement classes, sports skills and substitute teaching in the public school system. Laura’s experience includes the following:

18 years of experience coaching gymnastics through competitive level 6
10+ years teaching dance related classes such as ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop
10 years of experience developing behavior plans for children and adults with behavior difficulties including those individuals with Autism, traumatic brain injuries and a variety of developmental disabilities.
2 years experience conducting neuropsychological testing and academic testing
3+ years of experience as the Director of Behavioral Services at a private day placement school for children with severe behavior difficulties.
